Content with a face, at speed
Marketing and social clips, product videos and ad variants fronted by an avatar or your own digital twin are the work HeyGen is built for.
Compare · HeyGen
HeyGen is an AI avatar platform: videos fronted by a digital likeness, translated into dozens of languages. Lont is communication infrastructure: wired into your systems, one correct video per customer per event, delivered and measured. Different jobs, often confused. Here is the difference without the spin.
Start from the job. If the job is creating avatar-led content (marketing and social clips, outreach videos fronted by your own likeness, translated versions of videos you already made), that is the work HeyGen is built for, and we will not pretend to compete for it. If the job is operational customer communication (a renewal, a statement, an onboarding, generated correctly for each of a million customers, at every event your systems fire, delivered and measured), you are buying infrastructure, not a creation tool. That is the only thing Lont does, and we prove it the hard way: a randomized controlled trial at Allianz across 45,685 renewal customers, methodology public.
The two also combine: clips generated in HeyGen can enter Lont as approved scenes, and Lont decides, assembles, delivers and measures per recipient. Whichever way you go, make both of us prove our claims the same way. The section on reading evidence below applies to every vendor, including the one writing it.
HeyGen calls itself the identity-first AI video platform: video built around a person's digital likeness. Its public materials describe over a thousand stock avatars, digital twins created from a short recording, voice cloning, video translation into more than 175 languages, a prompt-to-video agent, and a developer API with template variables and batch generation, plus a separate real-time avatar product (their materials, September 2026).
It is built for one-to-many video: content produced as files (a clip, an ad variant, a translated version), where every viewer of a given video sees the same one. For avatar-led content creation and for translating existing video, that is the fit; if that is most of your need, weight this page accordingly.
Lont is a programmable video layer for enterprise communication. It connects to the systems you already run (policy, CRM, billing), applies rules you define, and assembles one correct video per recipient at the moments that decide the relationship: renewal, onboarding, claims, billing. Scenes are created once, under your review, wherever they are made (increasingly with generative AI); from there your data decides what each customer sees, deterministically. The same record always produces the same video, and nothing changes unless you change it.
We are the newer and far smaller company here, and we run like it. Personalized video has existed as a category for two decades, yet it is still a fraction of enterprise communication. We read that as an evidence gap, so Lont leads with the number boards use. In a randomized controlled trial at Allianz (a randomly assigned 10% control group kept receiving the standard letter), churn fell 10.9% relative across 45,685 renewal customers, methodology public, and we design the same measurement into every rollout. We have everything to prove. We prefer it that way.
Side by side
Everything in HeyGen's column comes from their own public materials as of September 2026. Verify both columns yourself; products change.
| Capability | HeyGen | Lont |
|---|---|---|
| Category, in each vendor's own words | "Identity-first AI video platform": avatar video in more than 175 languages | Programmable video layer for enterprise communication |
| Built to turn | A script or prompt into one avatar-led video; an existing video into many languages, the same content for every viewer | Each customer event (a renewal, a bill, a claim) into one correct video for that customer, at any volume |
| Personalization, as each describes it | Template variables filled per contact, via their API (batches of up to 100 per call) or spreadsheet-and-automation workflows | Deterministic assembly from approved scenes, driven by events and rules in your systems: same input, same video |
| Published evidence | Growth and adoption numbers; customer stories with reported results | A randomized controlled trial at Allianz: churn down 10.9% across 45,685 customers, methodology public |
| Viewer measurement | Share-page analytics per video: views, watch time, completion | Per-segment watch, skip and replay telemetry, tied to churn, NPS and conversion |
| Customer data handling | Ask which options fit your privacy bar | Levels up to: personal data never reaches Lont's servers (how all current healthcare customers run) |
| Using the two together | Generates avatar scenes, variants and translations | Turns approved scenes into one measured video per customer, from your data |
Their side
Marketing and social clips, product videos and ad variants fronted by an avatar or your own digital twin are the work HeyGen is built for.
Recording yourself once and sending personal-feeling prospecting videos at volume is a use case they build for explicitly, template variables and batch API included.
Their translation keeps the speaker's voice and lip-sync across dozens of languages. If the video exists and every viewer gets the same content, that is the shorter path.
Live, talking avatars for support-style conversations are a separate product they run. Lont's player is built for delivering and measuring per-recipient communication, not open-ended conversation.
Our side
You want churn, activation or call volume to move, with the measurement designed in from day one, up to a randomized trial with a holdout group, the way our Allianz result was produced.
A renewal premium, a policy end date, a claim status: when each customer's video must carry their own numbers and be right every time, deterministic assembly from your systems is the architecture built for it.
Renewals, first bills and claims fire on events in policy and billing systems. Lont generates the video when the event happens and keeps it correct when the data changes, with no spreadsheet in the loop.
Different privacy levels are possible, including setups where personal data never reaches our servers. All of our current healthcare customers run that way.
Reading the numbers
Vendor pages in this category, this one included, exist to sell. So apply the same four questions everywhere: was there a randomized control group, what was the sample size, is the customer named, and is the metric relative or absolute? Growth numbers say a product is winning users; they do not say what it moved for those users' customers.
Our headline number under that lens: 45,685 customers randomized, churn 12.8% in the control group against 11.4% with video, a 10.9% relative reduction over 100 days, customer named, methodology public. Hold every vendor's numbers to that standard, ours first.
FAQ
For operational customer communication generated from your data (renewals, onboarding, statements, claims), yes: that is Lont's entire product. For avatar content creation, outreach clips in your own likeness, or translating existing videos, no: that is the work HeyGen is built for, and we are not trying to compete for it.
Yes, at two levels. Clips your team generates and approves in HeyGen (a presenter scene, a translated variant) can enter Lont's scene library, and Lont can also be wired to call HeyGen's API, generating scene variants on demand that pass the same approval before any customer sees them. From there Lont takes over: your systems send each customer's data, rules decide which approved scenes they see, and back comes a personalized video link, delivered where your customers already are and measured per segment.
Ask them for current specifics; as they describe it, template variables are filled per contact and videos are generated in batches, which fits outreach campaigns well. The output is a batch of files. Lont is built as a system for the operational side: generation triggered by events in policy and billing systems, one video per customer per event, correctness maintained when premiums and dates change, delivery into your own channels, and measurement tied to the metric the journey exists to move. The question to put to any vendor: what happens to a million existing videos when one price changes?
HeyGen publishes its pricing; we will not repeat their numbers here, and ours depend on the journey. The shape matters more than the quote: Lont concentrates cost in creating scenes once, keeps the per-video cost low at volume, and a change re-renders from what you already have. Put one real journey with your volumes and languages to both of us and ask for the cost curve.

Bring one message you send at scale. We will show the same record rendered as one correct video per customer, map the data flow to your privacy bar, and design the pilot that gets you a number you can defend.
Thanks, that's in.
